Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri is an Indian politician from Karnataka. He belongs to the BJP and he was elected as the speaker of the Karnataka Assembly in July 2019.
Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri was born on Monday, 10 July 1961 (age 58 years; as in 2019) in Sirsi, Karnataka. His zodiac sign is Cancer. He received his primary education from a local school of Karnataka. He pursued B.Com from the Karnatak University in Dharwad, Karnataka. Vishweshwar has been associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which is the student wing of the RSS when he was in college.
He was an office-bearer and the state secretary of the ABVP for 5 years. Vishweshwar is a very influential leader, and he has always wanted to serve the people through politics.

Vishweshwar belongs to a Brahmin Family. His parents were Anant Hegde and Sarweshwari Hegde. He is married to Bharathi. They have 3 daughters.
Vishweshwar’s stint with the ABVP led him to become a member of the BJP. In 1991, he was appointed as the District Secretary of the BJP. He eventually rose through the ranks in the BJP. In 1994, he contested and won the Karnataka Assembly Elections from the Ankola Constituency of Karnataka. He was elected as an MLA. His work was appreciated by the people of his constituency, and he was re-elected in 1999 and 2004 from the Ankola Constituency.
In the 2008 delimitation drive, the Ankola Constituency was scrapped. Visheshwar then contested from the newly formed Sirsa Constituency and won. He was re-elected in 2013 and 2018. In 2008, he was appointed as the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education of Karnataka in the BS Yeddyurappa Cabinet. In July 2018, HD Kumaraswamy’s Coalition Government failed the trust vote and BJP came to power with BS Yeddyurappa as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka. On 30 July 2019, Vishweshwar’s name was proposed for the post of the speaker of the Karnataka Assembly. He was elected as the Speaker unanimously.
In July 2011, there was a campaign going on in Karnataka to include the Bhagwad Gita in the syllabus of the Government schools of Karnataka. Vishweshwar was a cabinet minister at the time, and he supported the move. Several people were opposing the campaign to which Vishweshwar replied-
Those who oppose the Gita tachings should quit India”
He faced a lot of flak for this statement and was heavily criticized for it.
